The Instructional Designer is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of course information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop measurable learning objectives, assessments, and other instructional materials including multimedia
  • Create and maintain schedules and course deliverable deadlines 
  • Incorporate adult learning theory to instructional design of online courses
  • Develop multimedia course content necessary to meet course objectives, including instructional videos, animations, and interactive lessons.
  • Develop multimedia course content necessary to meet course objectives
  • Understand and follow the NTT development processes and procedures 
  • Communicate concerns or issues regarding development to management 
  • Meet with the Operations Manager, Program Managers, Project Managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on a regular basis to determine curriculum and course development needs
  • Work closely with the Subject Matter Experts (SMESs) to provide overall direction leader on assigned course development projects, maintaining communication with all team members and coordinating meetings as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Train SMEs on the course development process and various resources used for development and delivery of online courses
  • Gather, review, and submit supplemental information and curriculum materials to SMEs
  • Hold regular meetings with the SMEs and Program Managers to: 
  • Provide status updates 
  • Address concerns 
  • Meet project deadlines 
  • Ensure accurate, correct documentation according to rules, formats, and standards established. 
  • Update course information due to changes in textbooks and/or software programs 
  • Work with publishers to obtain the necessary materials for successful course development.
  • Discuss best practices with teams for creating engaging discussions and activities that promote student learning using different learning strategies and methodologies 
  • Review external development options to determine feasibility
  • Identify vendor solutions and maintain vendor relationships

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant college course work, preferably in a communication, education or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, eLearning, or related field
  • 3-5 years of multimedia development experience
  • Multimedia development experience 
  • LMS experience such, Canvas, or other LMS systems 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and multimedia course development tools, such as Articulate sutie or Adobe Captivate
  • Experience developing instructional videos using Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, or other video tools. 

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with multiple business units in the college, trade school and seminar training environment. 
  • Strong multimedia and graphic skills
  • Strong project management skills. 
  • Previous skills-based program experience.
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively
  • Strong time management skills and detail-orientation
